Overall, my experience was okay. I wish I had shopped around before committing with Veterans United. I had to catch some mistakes that would have cost me quite a bit of money for closing on the loan. My loan representative sort of dismissed my concerns with the discrepancies, but once I addressed my concerns higher, everything was resolved.
The only constructive feedback I have is that communication was sometimes not always consistent from the initial point of contact at the office. We sometimes got different information from the different receptionist but then got the correct information when speaking to Renee. Overall the experience was still great and everyone was a pleasure to deal with despite the setbacks that happened, everyone at this office had our best interest in mind and we would do business with Veterans United again.
Unfortunately this experience was not as pleasurable as my first. I have processed two mortgages with VU over the past year in excess of $500k total. My first experience was flawless, this is what allowed me to return. The latest experience was not as pleasurable. I attribute it to mis-communications and general lack of situational awareness and expectation management resulting in frustrations and additional cash to close that was unexpected. Had I not been so close to closing, and dedicated so many hours to meet the VA requirements, I would have stopped the process and restarted with another company. In the end, the mortgage was completed.
